I had an unsuccessful iv put in, it was removed after it swelled up and now 3 days later my hand and wrist are bruised and sore. How long will this last and how did this happen

    Hi, sorry for your pain.

When a needle is removed from a vein, usually, pressure is applied for a few minutes to REDUCE the bleeding and help the hole heal. But if the hole(in the vein) doesn't heal quickly for any reason then a bruise forms.

It should stop hurting within a week (so you should be half way there) and the bruise should have visibly dissappeared after 2 weeks.
