Why is it taking me so long to get my first job?

Why is it taking me so long to get my first job?

I know the economy is meh. , but I have been applying on and off for the past 2 years to jobs at places like target, walmart, and even fast food places. I have filled out probably 50+ applications online & in person at restaurants too. I had 2 interviews at fast food places and I cant help but think that other people got hired instead of me because of their over-the-top personalities or insider connections.

I am a slightly shy, somewhat athletic 20 yr. old dude and I KNOW that I can do these jobs like cashier, busser, team member, etc.. I apply to all these places and I know I should follow-up....& I do follow-up sometimes, but I am just not good at talking to these managers that always seemed annoyed. It makes me sad because I'm missing out on these jobs that I can do, but I can't get them because my social skills are a little behind others i think.

I need a job badly so I can get my life started & stop feeling depressed. It sucks not going to college, not having friends, or not even being able to date girls or hang out with a new set of friends either. sigh. :(

sorry if this is kinda long, but i dont have alot of people to talk to right now.

It's okay, I'm 20 and I've had 3 different jobs. Two in food service and a managerial position. I've done well at every single job and have received promotions. I have verifiable references, and I am extremely personable.

I cannot find work!!!! I had to move to a different city and I have applied to 60+ jobs and have had only 2 interviews, both of which resulted in absolutely nothing. Even McDonald's will not hire me for an entry level "no experience needed" position. It makes NO sense to me. I guess the economy really is in the toilet.
