Why is my car making a loud sound?

It sounds like the engine is idling high (that's the only way I can describe it) when driving over about 30 miles per hour.

All my gauges are normal, no engine lights are on and otherwise it drives like it always does.

I had the tires rotated (if that might have anything to do with it, but the tires look fine.

Anyone have a clue? I am going to have it checked, but I would like to have some ideas.

Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

If it sounds like either a humming or a growl, it could be a bad wheel bearing. Most shops have courtesy suspension checks that could take a look at it.

Maybe your car is not shifting into higher gears. If you have a tachometer see if it is going up really high on the rpm scale. Also make sure the tires were rotated properly, like the other guy said about radial tires.

Go back to where you got the tires rotated and ask if they criss-crossed the rotation because with radial tires you are not supposed to because of the direction of the steel belts, if that's what you have.
