I have a android smart phone. If I drop my service will I still be able to use it for apps like Facebook, twitter, weather, etc if I have a wireless connection? I know I won't be able to make calls.

My android phone works with wireless only when I take the sim card out. Try it on your phone. Just turn it off, remove the battery, remove the sim card, replace the battery, turn it on, and try to use it with wireless weather, facebook, etc.
