What happens if you don't sign up for the Selective Service?

I refuse to sign not because I'm "scared" I refuse to sign because I am against what the U.S. stands for in politics. I am 19 now and this is the second time they contacted me. So I was wondering if there is anyway to get around it or to sign it but to also show them that if there ever was a draft you would not join, get along, listen to orders, etc. I do not need student loans, I do not care for Government jobs, and I highly doubt I will be arrested.

Update:

Dr.Z I guess you did not read my paragraph. That's so sad. You do there are many people that do not register, and never get arrested. I would like to see the government waste their time and resources on all people that do not sign up.

You can get a huge fine and go to prison.

It's not that big of a deal. There hasn't been a draft in a very long time. Plus, the government is finding little reasons to get people OUT of the military. They're downsizing, so why the **** would they draft anyone? (Also, I'm pretty sure there are some religions that would never be drafted because of what they believe in. You can go join one of those)

People are rarely prosecuted for failure to register for Selective Service...UNLESS, you draw attention to the fact that you wilfully didn't register. If the Government does decide to prosecute, you could face up to 5 years in Federal Prison & a $250,000 fine. Just do it, it's unlikely there will ever be a Draft again, because unlike Vietnam we fully utilise our Reserve & National Guard Troops. A Draft would only be held in an absolute Worst Case Scenario (Think World War 3)

What about the $250K fine and up to 5 years in prison? I am quite sure you would be well 'liked' in prison!

Just man up and sign up. There has not been a draft in over 40 years.

    Some people's children.
