Not attempting to get into a discussion on Harley vs Honda but just in the overall touring aspect...which would you buy. I currently have the 99 RKC with 31K (last owner didn't ride much) and am looking at the Gold wing with 52K. Direct trade with no cash changing hands.

Going to do a 3K ride in a couple of months.

General opinions on each please.

I am sure the majority of you have seen the various rants and/or quasi-questions from some troll who has the audacity to name itself warrior elite. It seems to have wood towards all Marines since it's wife supposedly ran off with a Marine Gunnery Sgt. So my question is.... is Y!A showing sympathy to this troll and permitting it to put garbage questions out there.... or does Y!A not peruse the questions no matter how many of them are reported?

C'est la vie...I guess children will be children.

During the time I have answered questions at Y!A, I have noticed a group of people create accounts simply to publish BS questions concerning the military knowing full well they are going to get blasted or called a troll/idiot. Why?

The concept of Y!A is a good one but utilizing it just to publish garbage is a waste of everyone's time.

This will probably get some BS responses from the spammer/trolls/idiots but so be it.

I have a 99 Road King Classic with 27K miles (purchased recently). When I got it 4K miles ago, it started and idled normally but occasionally the check engine light would come on. Took it to Harley who checked it and said there were not faults in memory. Cleared the light and sent me away. 2 days later, the same problem showed up.

Now, I am having issues with it starting when cold or warm. The idle has dropped to 600 - 650 rpm and when I downshift, I get a substantial amount of backfiring. I have changed the plugs to iridium plugs, cleaned the K&N filter, and checked everything I can. The check engine light is still on occasionally. I have noticed that I will get about 38 MPG with the check engine light on and 45 MPG with it off. When it is on, I can smell fuel like I am running rich.

My only option left is to take it to the Harley house to have it (1) re-flashed, (2) diagnosed, and/or (3) repaired. I hesitate only due to the ridiculous mark up the Harley house puts on any repair.

Any suggestions on possible issues. Please don't tell me to sell it and purchase a different brand. I have owned Harleys for the past 50 years and they are what I ride.
