96 Goldwing GL 1500 vs 99 Harley Davidson Road King Classic?
Not attempting to get into a discussion on Harley vs Honda but just in the overall touring aspect...which would you buy. I currently have the 99 RKC with 31K (last owner didn't ride much) and am looking at the Gold wing with 52K. Direct trade with no cash changing hands.
Going to do a 3K ride in a couple of months.
General opinions on each please.

I like them both. However the wing sits up to high for my comfort. The wing is faster but if you are touring speed isnt an issue. Both are comfortable despite what the HD haters think. Pretty sure the king gets better MPG though. The only thing Goldwings come in my shop for is tires! HD gets brought in for mostly performance upgrades not for breakdowns. I would sell the king for cash its worth more than the wing. Then simply buy the wing and have travelling money!

Just look at the numbers. http://www.mcnews.com/mcn/technical/2013JanPerfInd...
The goldwing is a liquid cooled 6 cylinder with 80hp, modern frame and suspension. The harley air cooled vibration factory with 60hp, little changed since 1930..
The real question is, do you want ride a nice touring bike or do you want to be handicapped by riding an antique reproduction that isn't the least bit unique?
That said, you better look at the bluebook and decide if you wouldn't be better off selling and dealing in cash. But don't get fooled by all the high ball asking prices on harleys.

I would go for the Goldwing for distance riding. There is a reason they are popular with the Iron Butt crowd and Harley's aren't.
I'm not sure about the direct trade, but if you are happy with the trade, then go for it.

I like the Gold Wing, they normally don't break down, my 2001 Gold Wing has over 100,000 miles on it, and I would be afraid to take a trip anywhere. Last year traveled from Ks to Cal on old 66 highway, no trouble.
