Is fasting safe for people under 18?
So I have family visiting in little less than a week and I was wondering if fasting before they show up would be unsafe. I'm nearing 14 and I'm perfectly healthy except for my weight! I was hoping to take off 10 pounds (crazy but not unheard of) by fasting ever other day and the other days just eating a salad and some water after this week I am going to begin some age appropriate diets and regular exercise but I would like some opinions as to what you all think. I seriously DO NOT want to put myself in any danger here! thanks!

You've said you are perfectly healthy, so fasting for a couple days is fine. There are no reasons why fasting for 5 or 6 days is dangerous (providing, of course, that you drink enough water) - afterall, we have the ability to store fat for a reason.
Of course, fasting as a long-term solution to losing weight is a bad idea as malnutrition can have many adverse effects... but you've already said you are going to begin an appropriate diet/exercise etc. so 5 or 6 days will not harm you, especially if you are eating salads :)
The only thing I'd like to mention is that you should make sure you get some sodium and potassium - it's always good to keep your electrolytes up. Potassium is found in many vegetables, so chuck a few tomatoes or a potato in with your salad. As for sodium, just add a little table salt to the salad.
Although, I will say that you should consider eating some salad every day. Also, don't be surprised if you feel a little weaker than usual while you're fasting... and should you feel very faint, eat something.

Fasting is never the answer. If you want to lose weight, dont starve yourself. I hear it doesnt help as much as eating your meals (healthy) and consuming 2000 calories per day. It depends on how much weight you want to lose. For 10 pounds, I suggest 2000 calories or less per day. That'll give you guarenteed results in about a month. Yes, a month. You have to be patient with this stuff! Also do a lot of exercise and drink a lot of water. It will help a lot.

Fasting could be verry dangerous no matter how old u are you need to eat three meals a day to have the engry to do stuff just exersie an hour twice a day or so then lose weight but your body needs that food to run smoothly and if you fast it could cause alot of things even in a week. It can be dangerous
