christians, how do you reconcile paedophiles in christianty.....................................?

....with what christianty is , with christ, god, love etc, how do you feel about them using something you consider to be good , ie god etc to justify or get away with their actions?

and

do you think god will forgive them, because they were/said they were christians/saved?

Update:

problem, i dont know if it occured to you or not,but i might not have any kids, and this q might not be about me

as for it not just beingt christianty, im aware of that, i never said otherwise, what i asked is how do christians reconcile that they are in christianty

Update 2:

t68 , i havnt confused christiansy with priests, i have asked a question to christians, about these people,

i notice not a lot have directly answerd that part , and instead a few have went so far as to accuse me of being' confused' and 'fooling myself' and 'not being aware this isnt just in religion'

i havent read all the answers fully yet so forgive me if any of you have answered, i will get to it ;-)

Update 3:

"..only those who do his will"

but, if they truly believe they are, isnt that the same thing ?

isnt the beleif in what you are doing being 'right' and 'for god' doing gods will?

Update 4:

id love a straight answer to this that doesnt involve assuming i believe its only in religion

Update 5:

to the few answerers who gave a good try thanks:-)

Update 6:

I do not reconcile it I do think that it shows a very bad light on the RCC which is why many Christians wish to distance themselves from the RCC and is part I believe because of the celibacy vows of priesthood that was totally against the Bible teachings which says an elder or pastor or deacon should be the husband of one wife not single Personally I dont believe any who would do such a thing were ever saved nor do I hope they will ever be forgiven and I also think that the offenders as well as the higher level people that seemed to just cover it up should be severely punished though I am not usually agreeable to torture I believe this is a place where there should be extreme torture done to them all before they are killed it is disgraceful and unacceptable that it should ever have occured.

Hi. this is sad and the Bible tells us, that in order for any one to enter the kingdom of God , we have to have a heart of a child, So i go from there. “There is no direct mention in the Bible about pedophilia but that does not mean that this is something that we cannot address with timeless principles that come out of Scripture. One concept that we could look to is the sin of “fornication” and this word has the same idea in both the Hebrew and the Greek. The Greek word is “porneia” and we get the English word “porno” from this word and one can recognize that it is the basis for the word “pornography.” The word in Scripture refers to any illicit sexual activity and therefore this would include the abhorrent acts of a pedophile, including the gathering and trading of graphic sexual pictures of young children. If the New Testament writers had been thinking pedophilia when they wrote “porneia,” then, why not explicitly say pedophilia? It is a serious enough problem that had there been an all-knowing, loving God behind the writings, it would have been addressed head on.

The aforementioned article does a good job of fitting pedophilia in the “timeless” Biblical morality. The problem with that approach is that by picking and choosing morals not directly addressed in the scriptures, Christians often justify terrible actions such as demonizing birth control and denying teenagers the sexual education they need to avoid STDs and unwanted pregnancies.

As for Jesus’s words regarding the “Little children,” it is worth remembering that many pedophiles rationalize sexual abuse as love. “I lover her so much. I would never hurt her,” they often say, confirming once again that the Bible, like any other book, can be interpreted by anyone to mean anything.

That it hurts someone should be enough to qualify a deed as wrong.

God said it would be better to tie a rock to your neck and jump into the sea, than to hurt a child.

John Bradford, a psychiatrist with two decades of experience studying pedophilia, estimated that 4 percent of the population meet the criteria for diagnosis as a pedophile. That would be ANY group of people. Not just Christians.

Don't fool yourself into thinking your kid is safe if they avoid one group of people. A pedophile could be anyone.

It is a modern myth that everyone can simply be "forgiven" and that God is all loving. If you actually read the Bible you would learn that most people will not be forgiven. The Bible clearly says many times that you should fear God. I have no doubt that God has something special in store for these SOB's.

  • The same way I do in the absence of religion. Simply put, there are (sadly) disgusting, perverted, harmful people in this world. They are sick in the head, they lack morals, they lack compassion, they have no concience. This type of behaviour does not exist solely in a world absent of religion. It is everywhere.

Repentence must be true and forever. It is not a free pass. One does not get to willingly and knowingly do harm just because they are saved.

Cause no harm... If you believe you're doing what God approves of, you'll not be causing harm to a child or others.

I never believed people who said they thought it was God's will to harm another like that.

Hitler is a great example. Many say he thought he was doing right or good.... how? By harming all those people?

People have choices, minds with brains attached... and no matter what your beliefs or religion... that is a choice to harm or not harm.

Well ........... I cashed in my "christianity card" years ago......however.....

I know "how" Christians are able to "reconcile" anything that perplexes them ....

it's the same reason there are so many brands of christians ........they find some

verse in the "scriptures"... twist and finagle with it until they come up with an

"interpretation" that satisfies their conscience... relives their guilt...or gives them

some way to cover their @$$es....so they can fell good about it ....then they"ll

pray about it ...to seal the deal .... and in most cases ... take up a collection ....

    We're all sinners.

Don't confuse Catholic priests with Christians in general, it is a separate religion that uses a similar book.

If they repent, they will be forgiven. (being sad about it and crying a lot for being caught doesn't count as repentance!)

this is why vowing to celibacy is wrong. God created women for a purpose. In Genesis, it says, it's not good for a man to be alone. You need to find a good woman to make love with and not touch those kids. End of story.

the group that tops the list for paedophilia is family , 28%, a family nowadays is comprised of actual father and mother, divorcee, and overnight uncle or aunt [ plenty of those ], siblings, step parents, step children , and even grandparents, so it covers all of society
