Solid rubber tires are awful to ride on. They don't roll well, they are heavier, they don't absorb road shocks form cracks, irregularities and potholes in the road, and the rims they are mounted on will soon be damaged by all those road hazards. A gel saddle will not help with this. I have been riding road bikes since 1972 and I have seen airless tire systems come and go multiple times. They are always touted as the latest thing and always have the same failings. Air absorbs road shocks. A properly inflated tire is a wonderful thing which literally allows you to float above the road on a cushion of air.
