Plan for parents divorce?

So my dad is leaving my mom and she is not employed. I am worried she won't have the money to do the things she wants to do in life. So would it be possible for me to start a savings account for her and put in $100 a month in it? When my mom is near retirement I would want to take the money from the account and give it to her. Is that allowed? And im 15 so am I allowed to do this without a parent?

If you're in the US, in the majority of states a minor cannot open a bank account on their own, but there are a few (very few) states that allow it (they have provisions in the law allowing it).

It's a sweet plan, but don't worry so much about your mom. She'll figure it out. And if your parents were married for more than 10 years, and provided that Mom doesn't re-marry, when she retires she can draw social security under your father's benefits.
