Short Sighted and joining the army?

Join the army (Australian) in the future, would this be a problem? Should I get Laser Eye Surgery to correct my vision before I join or will it cause problems?

Im in the american army and my vision is 20/200 which means i cant be more than a foot away to read small print. Idk austrailian standards but if it can be corrected with glasses you should be fine kid.

He can join he'll just have to wear really ugly glasses at boot camp. After he can wear normal stuff. (That's assuming short-sighted is the same as near-sighted)
