What is a Ginger, I have seen this in some questions?

I have seen this in some questions and I don't know the reference.

Is this an insult or something similar?

Does it refer to a specific type or kind of people?

A "ginger" is British slang for a redheaded person. Some people with red hair might find being called "ginger" an insult. Red hair is recessive, thus the rarest hair color among humans.

During the Middle Ages, people with red hair were stereotyped as "fiery", meaning quick to anger and/or having large sexual appetities. Some of these stereotypes survive to the current day, though there has never been any serious discrimination against people with red hair.

In an 1840 comedy, the Viennese playwright Johann Nestroy wrote "The Talisman, or The Fateful Wig," where a barber's apprentice with red hair dons a black wig and begins to woo wealthy women.

A much more modern take on such stereotypes is a comedy sketch by the British comedienne Catherine Tate, where people with red hair are taken to refuges to avoid prejudice.

Ginger = person with red hair.

It became offensive because of the american show "South Park" which first brought up the idea that gingers don't have souls. This became popular on the Internet and in the general Media and thus began to be often used as an insult.

Ginger can be used in two ways. In the UK and Ireland it's used to describe red headed people, and it's not an insult. In addition in UK politics the word refers to a Ginger Group, which means a group within a political party that is modern and what's to introduce reforms and change the political status quo

    Hope this helps

It's another term for "redhead". It's not typically offensive, but that would depend on the context (i.e. "Watch out, ginger balls!")

It's a term more often used in Brittain.
