I'm always sad for no reason?
This is gonna be long, but here I go.
I'm only 13, and I'm a girl, so I understand that it might just be my hormones screwing me over.
However, pretty much everyday, or every other day, I get either depressed, feel lonely, or extremely bored for at least 12 hours of the day. I have no idea why, and it's never directed at anything. I prefer the feeling to wear off instead of people cheering me up. Also, if something in the day dampens my mood, then my mood will stay down for the rest of the day. When I wake up the next day, I'm perfectly fine, happy, and normal again. I can handle pretty much any amount of sleep and still feel fine when I wake up, so it's not sleep deprivation.
It may be other stuff, though. I'm still (sort of) recovering from a personality change, as I hated my old personality. Change was successful, but all of this may be some after-effects. I'm also still not over my parents getting divorced a bit over a year ago. And, I don't know if this matters, but I heard it might contribute, is that I listen to always sad music, such as hard rock, grunge, heavy metal, and death metal.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I go to the doctor just to be safe, or is it just my hormones screwing me over?
@Kelsey P
For the personality thing, it was triggered by how I found myself losing friends, and I was always getting into arguments with close ones, so I figured I'd change myself so I wouldn't lose anyone else.
And as for the music.. the sad tone of it surprisingly calms me down. I don't know why, but listening to bands like Dethklok actually make me feel a tiny bit happier, if that makes sense. e_e

Heck, finally I found someone like myself. For starters, I love heavy metal too, their awesome! that's normal, don't worry. There are millions of people that like heavy metal music in this world, and you don't see them going psycho.
As for sad music, I find it fine. Example, look at Adele. Her songs are almost all sad, and HELL --she's a worldwide singer and everyone loves her, there's million views, billions of people out there that love her like crazy. So that means there are many people that like sad music, doesn't mean your crazy, or mental, either.
My parents separated, I got depressed and started changing my personality. Happy when I'm with others, sad and crying when I'm alone. When someone came in, I would be a cheerful bubbly girl but when alone I start stabbing myself and crying. I could control myself, and as time passed, wounds healed and I got over it, lived a happy life, well, not perfect, with a lot of effin drama but yes, still a life, and I'm breathing and kicking. Don't worry, when you get older you'll be fine. But you need lots of determination and self encouragement in the way, so don't give up. Ever.
I get bored, and I even lose the meaning of life in awhile, I go YouTube and watch funny videos, like Smosh, or family guy. It usually cracks me up, and at least I'm not so bored. Try it next time your bored ;)
Depression and loneliness when friends leave you? WELL LIKE HELL DUH! I get so upset whenever someone close leaves me. I also get into arguments pretty often D:
That's where anger management comes in! Calm down, and tell yourself if your gonna regret it afterwards, DON'T. DO. IT. Don't scream at anyone, or slap anyone out of anger. You'll probably feel like dying when they ignore you. I know, I've been through it. It hurts. So just calm yourself down, or practice controlling your emotions.
I hope I pretty much answered all of your questions, so if you feel even a teensy bit happier after reading this, I'm really glad! Good luck in your life from now on! And don't always feel like dying. When your about 80, I bet you'll be saying I don't wanna die,im gonna die soon, WHYYY...?! Haha :)

well its sometimes normal for u to feel sad but then how long can anyone carry on ruminating over the thinngs that happened in the fast..the minutes are ticking by and your life is passing with time so u need to hold on to it and not let the time go ...bad things happen in life but then finally u have to come over..try to be happy by thinking good thoughts and do any activity that u like, take up any hobby so that the sad thoughts dont get stuck in your mind..also dont listen to metal music much because it kind of paints a sad picture..you have to listen to something that will give you a good feeling

I was the same way up until like 15 haha! I believe its normal, at that age with a divorce especially, and the fact that you hated your old personality may mean you felt something was wrong with yourself? I think its awesome you self-improved at such a young age though, nothing wrong with wanting to change something you don't like about yourself. As for the music, try different things! At first, I forced myself to listen to stuff i knew would improve my mood, and now I love it!!

:O Went through a personality change and listens to death metal <3 person after my own heart. your description reminds me a bit of me. - Sorry for wall'o text.
Sadness is never normal. It always has a cause. You could try seeing a psychologist or a mental doctor. DON'T take anti-depressants, don't do it, taking medicine against mental problems is like losing a war with yourself. Or thats just what i think, if you prefer that then... its your life.
But chances are they just wont be able to understand why you're so sad. It does in fact sound to me tho like you're on the edge of becoming depressed... And it also sounds like it to me that you're in denial of the real reason, you need to admit it to yourself before you can admit it to anyone else, and after that you can start thinking about solving the problem.
Also on a side note, the music we listen to does as a matter of fact affect our personalities and emotions, But not all metal is dark and gloomy like doom metal... Try listening to Finntroll and Korpiklaani and Ensiferum and... stuff like that. you may actually be gonna feel better. after sticking to happier-types of music for a while. you don't need to change the genre you like.
I myself am not sad, depressed or anything but i really think i should be, i'm in the same sorry state as i was years ago when i was so depressed it's hard to recognize that i'm still the same person... and i may just be suppressing it in my own way, i don't understand why i'm not sad and depressed, But i still listen to a lot of dark music from time to time, i just mix them together a bit. you could also try out vocaloid, jack white, newton faulkner, godsmack, storm inc, megadeth, black label society, ac dc... tons of stuff, try avoiding music that could possibly be making you sad with either dark or depressing lyrics or background music, aggressive is fine, beautiful is fine too, just not sad or depressing and if you still feel sad after a month of carefully trying not to listen to sad music you can be pretty sure its not the music.
I'm gonna take a wild guess that you're just recovering from your parents divorce. I think its the most likely one, in which case you probably will recover from it in time once you get used to it.
Its ok to change your personality, but avoid making new ones, as the original can become a problem later, or vice versa.

Considering i was once in a state not unlike yours, but i realized the reason easily, heres some tips
Avoid darkness, Darkness will contribute to your depression/sadness. Even if you prefer it over brightness, no one said too bright, just keep ur lights on when ur alone in ur room except when u go to sleep.
Sleep, Sleep is the best cure for this state of mind, and staying away from sleep deprivation is crucial aswell.
Happier music, it helps, as i said before.
Watch some anime, no seriously, just like music, movies and tv shows can help us fight off bad states of minds, or boost our emotions, etc, scientifically this has been researched and everything...
So try watching some anime that isn't depressing, I recommend rurouni kenshin, K-on, bokusatsu tenshi dokuro chan (and other comedies), Durarara, Gintama, and uhm.. yeah, can also try Gosick, Since eastern culture is so different from western then so is their media, and i mean... i haven't really looked much into anything else eastern than japanese, but. I did notice that anime is less predictable than western movies and tv-shows to me (overall/in-general) and it also has a larger effect on me, for example, if i had not watched anime as much as i did, i still wouldn't value my life as i do now. And i'd probably never have been capable of becoming so positive. So if you like anime, its good for your soul <3
Otherwise, do the same but with our western movies and tv-shows and cartoons, theres a french cartoon called wakfu, its fun. and then theres movies like... The wrestler comes to mind...
I'm not really into tv-shows.
Also, our physical state affects our mental one, if you're unhappy about your body well.. then i guess it says itself you're "UNHAPPY" about your body and need to change that.
Our environment aswell affects us, If your room is always messy then so is your state of mind If your life is organized your mind is organized. so tidy up your room... you'll also feel real good about yourself after the deed is done.
Our diet also matters for our health, both mental and physical, so you could go see an expert on that...
Theres so many things to help out dealing with stuff like this. and all work, but none are a magical and instant solution, everything takes time.
And the only one who can help you is always you in the end.
