Diabetic, need insulin, moving from humalog to humulin R? Help Please?

I tried all week to get a hold of my DR. i am almost out of Humalog. what is the difference between it and Humulin R?? i am going to need it soon, no refills left, no idea where to get some!!

Can i:

Switch to Humulin R temporaraly? (Also use Lantus [20 units a day], and my insulin ratio is 1 unit per 6 Carbs)

{i can get Humilin R OTC}

Or is there somewhere/somehow i can get some Humalog? Doc office or something that does that? (Colorado)

Please i really need the help on this.

Thank You

    Any primary care doctor can prescribe insulin. If you're in dire straits, could always go to a walk in clinic to get a short supply until you can get in with your doctor. Though typically if you call your doctors office and explain the situation, they should refill it for you, at least a short supply until you can be seen. If not, consider finding another doctor. Insulin R is a bit slower in onset and lasts a little longer than the humalog, which is rapid acting. If you absolutely have to do the R (regular) insulin, consider dropping the dose by 2-3 units and monitoring your glucose carefully until back on your usual insulin. Good luck!

    Life style is often part of the issue. Life style changes now could delay or prevent you from getting diabetes later. Learn here https://tr.im/m1P3q

    What you eat is not actually the cause of diabetes, but how you live can be. If you sit on the couch all day, your chances of developing diabetes goes up greatly.

    Just do the best you can to not gain weight and to maintain an active life style and that will greatly help reduce some of your risks.

    humalog is very rapid acting, so is humulin R, but humalog is more rapid. Call your doctor tomorrow and get your prescription refilled. If you must use humulin R, take it 30 minutes before eating. If the doctor is on vacation, then you will get the covering doctor who can just call in the prescription to your pharmacy. The pharmacy can also assist you and call the doctor for you tomorrow, if you don't have any refills left...
