iPhone experts? I need your opinions...water damage?

After a couple, make that many drinks on my grad night, my iPhone went for a swim in the toilet (BEFORE I went pee). I took it out of the water immediately, and the screen was grey for a few seconds before turning off. I towelled it off and placed it in a bag of rice within 10 minutes, unfortunately the bag was not full and so my phone was not completely covered. The next day I changed out the rice and put it in a ziplock bag completely covered with rice. After 24 hours I tried to turn it on (I know, I shouldn't have) but to no avail. I then removed the SIM card and returned it back to the rice in a drawer. This water damaged occurred in the wee hours of Friday morning, and it hasn't been touched since I tried it and removed the SIM card. Now as this was the day of my grad I had a good 100 photos on it from that day that had not been backed up and only 2 made it into iCloud. So I have three questions for you. 1. When should I try and turn it on again? 2. Do you honestly think the rice will work, or should I start shopping for a new phone, and 3. If it doesn't turn back on, is there anyway to get those pictures back? (I really care about them much more than the phone).

Thank you for your time, and I hope you can give me some happy answers!

    1. I have seen people place waterdamaged electronics in rice for 2 or more days

    2. Rice is supposed to absorb the moisture, but you may have screwed yourself by turning it on prematurely. If you carried insurance, your carrier should be able to replace it for a fee.

    3. I dont believe your pics made it. If they werent backed up anywhere I dont see how they can be replaced

Source(s): I dumped Pepsi on my phone. I feel your pain :(
