how to increase my laptop's wifi range?

So, i have a asus k43sj and a belkin router (N 150 ) (LAN internet connection), but the thing is my house is multistory and router is placed in approximately middle of the house, but in my study room (lower floor) there is very weak or no reception. So if anyone can help me with this trouble i'll be grateful. i have come with several options :

1) Change router (but i don't know what is better than what i have already)

2) Access points or repeaters. (but it will be like waste of money)

3) Use a Wireless USB Adapter (eg Netgear N150 Wireless WNA1100 Usb Adapter) but i doubt that this will increase my reception power.

You can change the wireless adapter inside your laptop as well. Its about 30 dollars for a nice Intel card wth Bluetooth. Or 40 for their top of the line. Installing the card is quite simple. You just unscrew the old one, and hook up the antennas to the new. Install the correct drivers and you're good to go.

One option is to get an external USB adapter that has a separate antenna on a cable. You can then move the antenna around to get the best signal.

For multi-story houses, the router antenna should be horizontal, as that creates a better pattern going up/down. By default, routers make the signal go sideways more than up or down...
