java running into compatibility issues?

I recently re-installed my operating system to speed up my performance of my computer. Everytime i try to install java, it installs perfectly fine once i reboot, it says java has run into compatibility issues. It worked perfectly fine on my computer before i re-installed my operating system. I don't think my system specs would effect this in anyway. I am running on windows vista. Any solutions for this problem would be great. I am thinking about re-installing my operating system again, i just don't want to waste the time and hassle, i re-installed java multiple times and i made sure i delete every file contenting it before re-installing it.
