Do I need Java on my Windows 7 PC?

I bought my HP desktop about a year ago and it did not have java installed. Do I need to install Java on my PC? Or not?

    It depends on you. I rarely ever encounter sites that require Java platform to be installed anymore. A lot online games will use Java over Adobe Flash though. Just install Java the day you find something you want to use that needs it.

    Usually on a fresh install a Java install prompt will appear all by itself when you encounter something that NEEDS Java.

    So I ignore Java until it's actually needed.

    If you do install Java, check your computer for added/unwanted programs that Java jams you with. Best not to install it at all.
