College Applications issue?

Hi, I am going to be a junior starting semester. I really have not done too much the previous two years. This summer however I have started going to the gym, volunteering in a hospital, and have AP Chemistry and AP History lined up for next year. I also have Academic Decathalon. The problem i have is that academic decathalon is a lot of work as i have to read a 600pg book (Doctor Zhivago) and take extensive notes, hilight 3 resource guides which are one hundred pages each.4

So i wanted to know will academic decathalon look good on college apps and if it is worth the work for it?? or whether i should just join a couple of clubs instead??

MY OTHER SUMMER WORK WITHOUT ad

1. Read 200 pg book plus write a 5 page essay

2.Read a Chemistry Txt book and answer loads of questions

3. Math Packet

4. aNOTHER 600 PG BOOK called jane eyre

5. Work out at gym

6. hospital

7. sat clases with oodles of homework

Update:

and write a 2 page speech for academic decathalon (ad)

also i am already in bio club and future bussiness leaders of america

and sophtmore year i did track but was not good at it

Academic Decathlon looks great on applications, especially if your team ranks high in your state, or you rank highly in a subject. Reading Doctor Zhivago will be only a part of what you do for Acadec, so consider it carefully before you commit to being a team member. The other things you study for Acadec may actually help you in the rest of your studies. My daughter actually learned enough studying thru Acadec that she was able to take three AP exams without ever taking the classes (and earned 5's on all of the exams). Just something to think about.
