how to format a long quote in a fiction story?
im writing a story but i dont know how to format a long quote one of the character's says. For example if he says “ Do you know what its like to go to war? Do you? Do you even understand what it feels like to smell and see the blood all over your clothes as you hold your friend in your arms? To have to keep those images every day and night as you lay with your wife in your bed? Do you?” It becomes a paragraph of the guy's statement, but i don't want to cut it short either. Thanks in advance.

You format it just like you did in your question. A character can have a paragraph or several paragraphs where it is only dialogue. Just put the quote marks before and after. If another character starts to speak you start a new paragraph.
You can also break up the dialogue with description: "Do you know what it's like to go to war? Do you?" He looked down at his arms as if he was holding a body and started to shake. "Do you even understand what it feels like to smell and see the blood all over your clothes as you hold your friend in your arms?" etc.
