Finally got my first IPhone.Its a 3G.Do I need an anti-virus app for it?

I had a samsung smartphone for the last 4 years and never even thought about it tell someone told me I should get anti-virus when I showed him my new phone.

    No, not really. There really isn't that much malware.

    Antivirus on a phone, any phone, is close to pointless. Apple already scans every app they sell, so a virus won't come in that way. Also the permissions that it gives things downloaded from like an email or something are too strict to let anything happen. The phone does NOT come with built in Antivirus, but due to Apple's security and management, its next to impossible to get a Virus.

    Even with an Android phone, the only way you are going to get a Virus, is if you download an app from somewhere other than the market, Then nobody has the ability to protect it. Not Google, the Carrier, or the Manufacturer. Thats why its always best to leave the box for "Allow Third Party Apps" unchecked on an Android phone, unless you know exactly what you are doing.

    Nope. The iPhones iOS has its own built in antivirus. Its one of the most polished and protected systems out there.
