Is it against TOS to use the N word in an informational capacity?

For example, I just answered a question someone asked about the Civil War, and I said, "And they wouldn't be calling you an 'African American'; they'd still be calling you a..." and I trailed off there. If I had used the N word in that context, would it have been against TOS?

Update:

Bingalee, who died and made you God?

N****r in an informational capacity is a really touchy issue period, so it's hard to address the issue. Obscene words and insults are not terms of service violations but rather community guideline violations. N****r and it's variants when used in a non-historical/non-academic context is most often a community guideline violation. Can it be used in an informational capacity? Well it's a filtered term so directly posting it is impossible. Referring to it starred out in the way I have isn't a violation. I would be careful how you get around the filter, but as long as you use the word in an completely appropriate historical context it's not actually a violation. I would also be careful to try and avoid it whenever possible. On the Yahoo!Answers Suggestion Board where feedback is given on the site, there have been several threads with 50+ comment debates on the subject of using words in historical or academic contexts. The regulars on that board tend to know a bit about the terms of service and community guidelines and even they can't agree about the usage. If someone who is very offended by the use of n****r saw you using it, they may very well report you simply because they consider the use of the word in any context to be inappropriate. It wouldn't be a violation but it still might remain removed even after appeal. For that reason, yes it can be used in an appropriate informational context but be careful how you use it and how often.

Yes it would have been a violation as the others tried to point out. This question is also a violation for calling out another user.

The N word on here is considered a racial slur and as such is considered a violation and usually reported. It is best not to use it and there are other ways to express the sentiment without using that word.

You may not use that word EVER! All the excuses mean nothing,it is forbidden to use it in most societies today & with good reason.

You asked the Q,be prepared to get answers.No-one will tell you it's OK and you need not stoop to insult because you don't want to hear the truth.
