Have you ever bought a laptop at Walmart?

I am looking at a few different laptops from Walmart. What is the difference if I buy it there or at Best Buy or directly from the manufacturer? Is the quality lower or is it just the price that is lower?

I bought mine from Walmart a couple years ago. It was a Vista (which wasn't well liked) and I got it for only $400. It was the cheapest one there and I liked it when I first got it. But I noticed after a while, and to this day, if I use it to watch videos or it's open for too long the fan goes crazy and it overheats very easily. I was told a reason was probably because of where I got it from, that Walmart takes in the lesser quality laptops and something to do with the code on the box starting with a W..? Sorry if that sounds odd, I can't remember exactly what I was told. Anyway, I'd say you're better off going to Best Buy because they have a much wider selection and good quality products. Maybe it was just my bad luck but my laptop from Walmart did not turn out to be a great one. It worked, but it definitely had its bad features.

It really depends on what you will be using the laptop for. If you are just going to be browsing the internet and typing, a $300 computer from Wal-Mart will be just fine. I bought my laptop at Best Buy for $800 because it had a particular graphics card for gaming.

i have before i studied computers i got suckered many times on the walmart computers.. most of them have huge markups, and are not very powerful at all . bestbuy is better on pricing and options. but especially on the high end systems you pay huge premiums over what it should cost. i would reccomend you buy from a site called newegg.com they have the best prices ive seen on brand name laptops . and they barely charge over wholesale cost .. i mean you may have to wait a week for it to get there, but you will likely save a ton .. and it would make more sense to wait and save money . or wait and order a better laptop for the money ... well at least in my mind , we all have our opinions ") hope this has helped

It does not matter where you buy the laptop. The brand and specs of the laptop itself matters.
