Is the Euro still widely accepted in Ìstanbul?

On previous trips, I've taken Euros for big purchases and exchanged them for Lira as and when I've needed to for daily use, but I was wondering if the upheavals in the Eurozone had affected how acceptable Euros are now in Ìstanbul? Is it worth taking them, should I take Sterling instead, or just stick to Lira?

Many thanks for any insights.

Keeping Euros is not really such a smart move, even if they are widely accepted. The exchange rate in stores is generally 1 Euro = 2 Lira, whereas in reality the exchange rate today is 1 Euro = 2.24 Lira. You don't lose money in exchanging as they do not take commission or any such thing, so you better do it.

If you have Liras with you, naturally, keep them.

If you have Euros, also keep them. If you need to exchange them, you'll get a better rate in Istanbul. Euros are always acceptable and exchangeble in Istanbul.

If you have Pounds, still better keep them and exchange in Istanbul.
