Brake light comes on when foot is on GAS, goes off when I step on brake pedal?

1995 Ford Contour, just recently had both brake lines replaced, front brake pads replaced and brakes were bled. The brake light goes on when foot is on the gas, stays on while coasting . When I hit the brakes the brake light goes off. Anyone know why and how to fix??

Update:

Wow, I didn't expect such a snotty answer Michael......I'm did not continue to drive the darn thing.......I was just curious if anyone had an idea of what could be causing the problem so I can get a clue of how much it will cost to fix. Obviously, I'm not the only "idiot" who asks questions about car main. on yahoo answers since there is a specific category for such questions. And if you didnt notice in most car manuels, they advise you to take your car to a mechanic for every little thing.

Update 2:

Thank you to all others who have answered and are sincere in trying to help. I appreciate it very much!!

You're talking about the brake warning light in the dash.

Heed the warning and have someone look at your brakes, that light is trying to tell you something is wrong with you brakes.

If you look at the owner's manual it would probably say see a mechanic, and I sincerely doubt it would say if you see this WARNING light, ask a question on Yahoo!

On or should I say behind the foot brake pedal there is a brake switch. Sometime u can adjust them and other time they must be replace. Check to make sure ur brake lights r not staying on all the time because that is a sure sign that the switch is bad. Another issue can be the sensor in the master cylinder. Good luck.

There are two sets of contacts on the brake pedal switch.

One that "breaks" contact when the brake is pressed.

(cancels overdrive and cruise control when the brake is applied.)

The other "makes" contact when the brake is pressed.

(the normal contacts for lighting the brake lights.)

    Did they get reversed?

Then you can't use cruise control or overdrive...?

If it's a warning light apply the emergency brake, and then fully release it.

Assuming you are talking about the brake light on your dash, your brake fluid is low. Check the level. If it comes on again later, you probably have a leak somewhere.

that's not a malfunction, once you hit the brakes too difficult the abs equipment kicks in and the mild activates to permit you recognize the equipment is working, you may substitute your using behavior and end using the brakes.
