Who do you think is going to win the Men's Tennis gold medal at the 2012 Olympics?

Who do you think will win the gold... and why?

Bonus question: who is going to win silver and bronze?

I am really bad at predicting and I usually always jinx the player I pick for winning. Hopefully it will be the same this time. I think Federer is the biggest favorite due to his immense success on grass throughout his career and he is No.1 again and full of confidence. That is also the only thing he is basically missing in his career and the fact that other top players are out of form(Nadal, Djokovic), he will be the favorite the Gold.

My personal favorite is of course, Novak Djokovic and nothing owuld make me happier than to see him win the Gold for our country. He loves Serbia and he is so proud of it and always fights for his country. He has a decent chance to win as well. I think he is the biggest favorite after Federer. He was relatively close of beating Federer at Wimbledon without even playing his best tennis. Hopefully, he will set his eyes on the Gold and finally play like a Champ again!

Federer/Djokovic are definitely the top favorites. After them, Murray who is also great and consistent on grass and British so he will b fighting hard for his home country as well. Tsonga can be dangerous, he is always good in Wimbledon and on grass in general, he has a very powerful serve and groundstrokes and he can cause upsets with the favorites. You can also never count out Nadal who is the defending champion and will surely be motivated to prove himself after a terrible performance at Wimbledon.

The Top 4 players- Federer, Djokovic, Nadal and Murray have been so dominant over the last 4 years(well Djokovic, Nadal and Federer at least), it's safe to say 3 of the 4 of them will win medals, however, the Olympic tournament is a very different tournament from any other, because everyone is super motivated to play for their country and over the years we've seen many big upsets at the Olympics, so who knows? A certain thing, however is that some of the Top 4 will win a Medal for sure, perhaps, 2 or 3 of them, but I could very well see an upset medalist as well.

    1. Nadal. That's what I hope for, and I don't feel like being objective tonight. Or maybe Murray. 2. Again Nadal. 3. Rafa once more. 4. Yes, I think he can. He's a great player and he deserves it. It would be best for him if he could win Wimbledon, so I hope he will. Or Australian Open. 5. No way. It's impossible he can play like this two seasons in a row. He will defend some of them, but not all. 6. Well I'll give him US Open, or Wimbledon. I doubt he'll be No. 1 again, tho. 7. I hope Rafa. 8. Well Tsonga could win some. But since I already made my schedule of Grand Slam winners, he will win some other big tournaments this season, and Grand Slam some other season. Or maybe, if we exclude Federer, he can have one. Than Rafa would win Australian and Roland Garros, Murray Wimbledon, and Tsonga Us Open. 9. None left for him now. So he can have some in 2013. I'm pretty sure none of my predictions will happen, but it was fun. :D

It's on grass so Federer has a good chance to win. Since he's my favorite player I don't wanna be biased and say Federer's gonna win.

Actually I'd like to see Murray win after the terrible disappointment he went through after his loss at Wimbledon.

Nadal and Djokovic also have a chance to win gold medal, so I think the three medals will go to three of the four best players, Federer, Djokovic, Nadal or Murray. I don't see outcomers/underdogs winning a medal.

I'm French so I should be hoping for a French player to win a medal for my country but honestly, the last thing I want is that Tsonga or Gasquet win a medal !!

Nadal is gonna take the gold... he'll be more determine than ever to get back into the 1st position of the RACE TO LONDON stuff... only 300 more points and he'll be back on top!!!

BQ: Probs, Djokovic's gonna take the Silver, cause Nadal will face Federer in SF... and like in previous Grand Slams, Federer will succumb to Nadal this time round...

Djokovic will be more pressured than ever, cause his season thus far is just a slack compare to last year... besides Nadal seems to already crack the Djoker Puzzle... so Djoker would get the Silver...

As much as I want Murray to win the BRONZE medal, I think Federer will win it, because more expectations will be put onto Murray... and Federer has the experience edge over Murray, so yeah... :))

BUT THESE ARE MY OPINIONS AND I'M HARDLY ANY GOOD AT TENNIS ANALYSIS... SO WHO KNOWS...

WHATEVER IT IS IN FRONT OF US, IT WOULD BE A HELL OF A STORY, WHERE TENNIS IMMORTALS WILL FACE OTHER IMMORTALS!!!

I would say Djokovic will win gold, while Murray silver and Nadal bronze. Remember what happened the last time Djokovic lost to Federer at Roland Garros last year? He went on to win the next three majors. He is so good at putting his disappointment behind him, or "turning the page" as he calls it. I bet he is eager to redeem himself not only because he lost to Federer in the semis of Wimbledon, but also because he lost a heartbreaker to Nadal in the semis of the Beijing Olympics last time around.

    Gold : Federer

    Silver : Djokovic

    Bronze : Nadal

federer did well in the grass season getting to 2 out of 2 finals and winning one of those finals.

Federer hopefully. Great chance to cement himself as the GOAT if he hasn't already. Massive confidence from winning his seventh Wimbledon and breaking the record for most weeks as number 1. And to complete the career golden slam(winning all 4 gs titles and a singles gold medal).

Seeing how Roger just won Wimbledon I really can't see hims going all out, in so close a time, to win the Olympics. So I that leaves Novak and Rafa. I'm going to go with Rafa. As someone pointed out he can't be too happy about losing being upset in the early rounds of Wimbledon so he is going to be extra motivated to take home Olympic gold

It's on grass. So I'd look to the guys who have had a lot of success on grass. Federer, Djokovic, Nadal, Murray. I'll take three out of four of those guys to win the medals. Then again, the Olympics has always been screwy. I'll take John Isner as a darkhorse.
