Dude, depends entirely on where you live. Some states have sales tax, some don't. Some have food and beverage, some don't. The amounts all vary.

if you know the rate of your sales tax, muliptly $2.99 by that percentage, with a calculator.
For example $2.99 x 8.50%= .25 for tax. So 2.99 +.25=$3.24 Go ahead, get your cream horns.
The bakery's cashier, if honest, will tell you the total cost. If there's a tax on baked goods, it'll be included. If not, the cashier will say 8.97 (if you get 3. ).

Depends on what the tax rate is. usually 10% is the max, so figure 30 cents tax for each.

Every state has their own sales tax.
And in some states, like mine, some stupid cities can set even higher sales tax than the rest of the state.

If you live in Vancouver, Canada we have 12% tax so $3.35. You need to tell us what the tax is in your area so we can figure it out.
