How do I toilet train my hamster?

I have tried the doodees in his litter box on an upper level of his rotastack - he soooo does not get it yet, still doing all his business in his bedroom sawdust, must be about 7 months old. Our rabbit understood quickly, am I doing something wrong?

put the litter tray in the area where he does most of his toilet. of course he doesn't get it if you're moving them to an area he has no desire to go to the toilet in.

put in some dirty litter so he gets the idea.

not all hamsters take to being litter trained, but you're not making it easy for him by choosing where you want him to go. he has to do that for himself, and then you make it a more defined toilet area for him.

See where your hamster likes to urinate or poo. Usually, one corner of the cage. Put a jar... Err... Your hamster's litter in that spot. Add about ½-inch of a different type of bedding to the hamster's normal bedding to the jar... Err... Litter tray. For example, if you use a commercial substrate, fill the litter tray with properly shredded cardboard. The jar... Err... Litter that comes with hamster toilets is also suitable. Put the soiled material on top(Sorry, I got used to the potty training using jars). Let the litter tray get very dirty for a couple of days. After that, replace the old litter with new, but retain some soiled material each time. After a few weeks of doing this, replace the litter.

It's hard to train hamsters because they don't listen. They usually just pick a corner and pee and poo in it.
