When you have panic attacks you feel exactly like you are going crazy. It's really scary because you feel so terrible and you don't really know why, so it starts making you think you have all of these other problems.

It's totally normal for people with anxiety and panic attacks to think they have all kinds of other things wrong with them (health issues, going crazy, feeling depressed, sick a lot) so try to remember that.

And yes, you can get scared to drive. I had anxiety for years and have always loved driving, but a few years ago I suddenly hated driving. It freaks me out and I have a lot of anxiety when I have to drive on the freeway (expressway if you live back east).

What you have to do though is not give in. If you avoid life and stop doing things you end up so much worse. You notice I said that I hate driving...but that I still do it! Sure, I avoid it if I can or if I can take a back road instead of the freeway, but if I have to drive I do it.

Anxiety will get worse if you let it win. No matter how bad you feel, it is so important to keep living your life. If you truly do this and avoid thinking too much about the anxiety (it's hard to do that I know) you can beat it. If you dwell on it and spend all of your time thinking about how terrible you feel, it gets worse.

Good luck, and you CAN beat anxiety!

I have panic attacks once in a while. I feel like my heart is going a mile a minute, its hard to breathe and so Im gasping for air, sweating and feel like vomitting. For me, I'm not scared to drive only because i'm focused on driving and my thoughts aren't going in a direction that will trigger an attack. Being alone however, is sometimes scary. I need someone there with me to calm me down and just talk to and keep my mind occupied with other things. Right now I'm living alone as my boyfriend is out of town working. Thankfully, I havent had a panic attack while he's been gone. I only hope that if it does happen, I will be able to at least contact him on the phone D:

Panic attacks are where you feel you cannot breath, your heart rate goes up and you sweat quite a bit. But you can breath, you just need to calm yourself down and get your breathing rate back to normal. They can make you scared to drive or be alone because some people are scared of it happening to them when they are alone. Lots of people have panic attacks at some point, if it becomes regular you should go see you GP and they will guide you from there.

Yes, these are some of the symptoms. Heart racing like your having a heart attack. This is when you seem to scare people away without wanting or meaning to.

Source(s): Suffer from social anxiety and depression. Panic attacks are common with this.
