Olive oil as substitute for oatmeal cookies?

I don't have any butter or margarine at my house, only extra virgin olive oil and sesame oil. Is it possible to substitute the olive oil without it tasting disgusting? I also have two bananas and I read somewhere that I could substitute fruit puree in the space of butter. Which option would yield the best tasting cookies?

Update:

Would the bananas work as a substitute and offer good tasting cookies?

If the olive oil is the "extra light" kind, the taste may be mild enough to use for half the butter while using mashed banana for the other half. If it's EVOO, it will taste awful. Same with the sesame oil.

You might want to postpone the cookies until you've made a trip to the store. Did you know that you can freeze butter? I keep a couple of sticks of unsalted butter in an airtight bag in my freezer "in case" I get the urge to make cookies. When I use them, I replace them on the next shopping trip and they keep for up to a year in the freezer (if you don't make cookies often).

Nope on the oil because the cookies would taste like which ever oil you used. As for the bananas they may or may not work. You would need to know if the two bananas are equal to the butter this is because baking is a chemical process. all the ingredients work together.

I have tried putting olive oil in instead of butter and you can't even taste the difference!

I would highly suggest putting the cookies on hold, and go get some butter or margarine.

Yeah. Id wait. Just like the other guy said" put it on hold." They would taste like death and you would waste all your other goods! Also i wouldnt reccomend using the puree unless youre experimenting. Cause it would not be very good especially in the oatmeal.

No, it would taste foul. You need to use a flavourless oil.
