waxing/polishing question?
I just bought a new car (toyota camry), it is black/dark gray (my eyes can't really tell much difference)
I want to maintain it a bit, like with spray on wax or polish.
I do not have a lot of time doing full wax jobs. (I don't want to start that habit, since I already got a list of things that distract me from my important tasks).
What I want is some thing i can apply after I wash the car to have somewhat a shiny effect on the car. Would products like quick detailer do the job?
Also, for products such as Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax, do i need to claybar the car before applying?

THIS WOULD BE THE BEST THING FOR YOU AND THE TIME YOU WANT TO INVEST..
...HERES THE EASIEST WAY TO COMPLETE YOUR CAR ..GOTO A AUTO STORE OR EVEN A WALMART
1) CAR WASH SOAP THAT SAYS "WASH AND WAX" AND A WASH MITT..MICROFIBER..
2) ANY GLASS CLEANER WILL DO ,,,JUST USE OLD NEWS PAPER OR PAPER TOWELS ..NO STREAKS THIS WAY..
3)GET SOME UV PROTECTION,,LIKE ARMORALL ...FOR DASH AND TIRES...
4) GET A SET OF MICROFIBER TOWELS...THEY ARE GREAT FOR DRYING ..
5) THE MAGUIARS SPRAY WAX WOULD BE YOUR BEST BET,,AFTER THE WAX IN THE SOAP IS APPLIED , WITH THE SPRAY WAX AFTER ..THAT WILL LEAVE SOME PROTECTION...HOWEVER YOU REALLY SHOULD GIVE IT A WAX JOB AT LEAST EVERY 6 MOS OR SO WITH A CLEANER WAX FROM MAGUIARS...
IN THE END ,IF THE WATER IS BEADING UP,YOU HAVE A PROTECTION ON YOUR PAINT..
MAYBE 20$ total
HOW TO WASH : ALLWAYS START ON ROOF WORK YOUR WAY DOWN..DO A SECTION AT A TIME THEN RINSE ..LIKE THE ROOF HOOD TRUNK,,,THEN RINSE..THEN DO ONE SIDE AT A TIME TOO..
==GOOD LUCK===

those quick wax sprays and quick detail products are just for short term shine. they mostly are for last minute occasions when people need to shine their car for a show real quick or something.
if you want a lasting shine though, i would do a good wash (not a drive through wash). like an actual sponge in hand wash, and then let dry for a few hours. then go back and get a nice paste wax and do a good wax job, not too much but not too little. then get a orbital buffer, and buff the wax off. after that use a quick shine and seal the wax onto the surface.
since you said your car is new, you won't need to clay bar, but if it's more than 1 year old, it's time to clay bar. there's a lot more contaminants on the paint surface than meets the eye.
after this first initial detail, you just need to wash and quick shine for up to 3 months. then repeat process.
