why is my spam folder not automatically deleting?

Inbox page> Options> Mail Options> Spam

Look at your settings again

If necessary.. reset it to something else..then reset it the way you want it.. Jump start it back into action. Save changes at the top of the page

Spam folders have to be manually deleted so you have the opportunity to retrieve anything that happens not to be spam, but has been selected by your spam wall.

Sometimes important emails manage to get routed to your spam folder that you would otherwise never get to see.

once a week its deleted now.
