Ontario / Canada Trent-Servern Waterways by boat?

Have you done that? Any good advice regarding must-do, don't-do, watch out, don't bother?

Thanks

Yes, been there - done that. It s part of the Canada route on America's Great Loop. I have been living on my boat for 14 years and I am this minute, on my 5th cruise around the Loop.

The Trent-Severn is a boaters' paradise. . . I strongly and highly recommend it. While I could go on and on for two days about the Trent-Severn, I will save you (and others) a very lengthy answer.

Instead, here are some great links to learn all about the do's and don't(s) and don't miss.

These links cover boat size restrictions, legal, speeds, locks, site-seeing, and a whole 'boat load' of great information:

This first link is all about cruising the Trent-Severn and what to expect along the way:

    http://www.trentsevern.com/newsite/

This link covers all the Canadian laws and regulations, including the Trent-Severn.

    http://boating.ncf.ca/

This link covers the Rideau Canal (my favorite Canadian side trip) :

    http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/lhn-nhs/on/rideau/index.as...

And this is my website, which covers the entire Great Loop, and what to expect along the way:

My only advice is take all the time you can - it is a great boating adventure - one you don't want to 'rush' through....

I figure somebody on here is really jealous of Richard and Capt John as they both almost always get a thumbs down for perfectly good answers.
