Don't use Visine or anything similar. Those drops are NOT good for your eyes. They constrict the blood vessels on your eye surface decreasing redness, but they cause dependency and can even damage the blood vessels.
Use a lubricating artificial tear (Refresh is a common one we give out in our clinic). I'd recommend the preservative free ones without knowing your eye history as far as allergies are concerned.
If you are having allergy issues (do your eyes itch and become red during specific times of the year?), then I would recommend Zaditor (an OTC antihistamine/mast cell stabilizer combo). If you don't have allergies, this drop won't do anything for you.
Hope this helps.

to whiten your eyes, visine AC. I call it "teletubby eyes" because it makes your eyes unnaturally white
