Why do so many Right-wingers think that what the Founding Fathers were Christians?

Hate to break it to ya, GOP, they weren't!

But why do they think that? Is it because they need a reason to bring in faith into the public? Last time faith and politics were together, you had Anne Hutchinson run off to make her own colony. Also why is it that these people claim the Constitution is a totally sacred document? Don't they know the Constitution allows for NO specific religion in politics?

And even if they were Christian what difference would it make???

And since these same people are crazy about the Constitution, why is it they complain every time we take down a Christmas monument in accordance with the Constitution?? SORRY for following your idea in the first place!

Update:

To all those mentioning the Puritans, I have this choice excerpt from the New Oxford American Dictionary 3rd edition © 2010 by Oxford University Press, Inc: "( Founding Father )a member of the convention that drew up the US Constitution in 1787." AKA: Not the Puritans (or maybe you read the GOP brand History Book where the Mayflower Compact actually has any standing in modern American law)

Also, as for separation of Church and State: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion." Upheld in numerous Supreme Court trials.

THANKS FOR PLAYING!!! COME BACK SOON!!

Update 2:

"Many of them were - and those that weren't were deists."

Deists are not Christians, last I checked. Maybe you're right, but this still doesn't answer another of my questions: "And even if they were Christian what difference would it make???"

Update 3:

"Because we live in their FREE country, if they were Atheist heathens we would be Communist country*********************************…"

OBVIOUSLY, I'm so glad someone gets it!! Just like Sweden, I hear they're all starving over there.

Update 4:

"Well maybe because the constitution and pledge have "Under God" in it. Logic my friend, utilize it some time."

The Constitution does not have 'Under God'! Lol, damned republicans can't even read the damned Constitution!

"I have never heard any member of the GOP say that everyone has to be a christian. We support freedom of religion. Liberals believe in bashing anyone who has any religious beliefs."

Um, that was not my question!! Thanks for playing try again next time! :))))

This country was settled by Puritans... HELLO!

That doesn't mean they wanted to force their religion onto anyone... many left Europe to ESCAPE religious persecution.
