Why did the Israeli government abandon the south lebanese army in 2000?

@ BMCR you missed the whole point here there is no damned her the simple fact is you abandoned your closest ally for a reason, and you failed to tell me what that reason is, that makes you look ike a bull with titties.

    Cowardice.

    The IDF being kicked out by Hezbollah probably had something to do with it too.

    One has to "admire" the "damned if you do, damned if you don't " tactics that anti Israel people employ.

    When Israel was in South Lebanon, they were criticized for being there. Now that Israel withdrew, they are criticized for abandonment. And its now 12 years later. (Another aspect of the anti Israel talking point ... there is no statute of limitations.)

    I am an Israeli. I am very supportive of my country. However the decision that was taken by Ehud Barak government was one of the most shameful decisions. It was unfair let alone very bad for Israel. Ehud Barak will bare a badge of shame for this forever. Not that he cares. We left our allies almost all of them. I am sorry and ashamed of that move.
