I would like to know about an ipad?

If you are OK with just using internet connections at home, wifi is all you need. If you plan or want to take the ipad out of the house and use it for GPS or connect while out, you would want to buy one with the GPS addition. It depends on how you plan to use it.

With wifi, it won't cost you any extra than what you pay now. If you go with the mobile data 3G ipad, you will pay for an extra data plan for the tablet.

you don't need a mobile phone connection. your laptop wifi comes from your wireless modem. your iPad will connect in the same way. so just like when you connected your laptop, you will connect the iPad in the same way.

if you get the wifi only version you have to be connected to a wifi hotspot to got on the net if yout the wifi+4g version you can always have the net with you even if you are not connected to a wifi hotspot!

tip optoinal- in your Windows computer download 'connectify' and from there you can make your LAPTOP a hotspot!

If you buy an iPad with wi fi, you can use your wireless Internet with it.

It depends on the model you get. There are Wifi+3G models & ones with just wifi.

You need either: wireless at your home and/or pay for a data plan if it is 3G enabled. If you have wireless at home, just use that.
