A certain force gives an object of mass m1 an acceleration of 12.0 m/s^2 and an object of mass m2 an acceleration of 3.30 m/s^2. What acceleration would the force give to an object of mass (a) m2-m1 and (b) m2+m1?

F = m1*12
F = m2*3.3
Dividing these gives: m2 = m1*(12/3.3)
a = F/(m2 - m1)
a = F/[m1*(12/3.3 - 1)] = F/[m1*8.7/3.3]
We also have F/m1 = 12 so a = 12*3.3/8.7 = 4.55 m.s^2
I will let you work on the other one. You should get an acceleration less than 3.3
