My dog has lymphatic cancer in his throat and won't eat.?
I think he is in a lot of pain when he swallows. I tried to feed him a treat but he would push it away with his tongue. I tried to give him small pieces of his regular food but he refused. He drinks water sometimes though, so I crushed up some of his food in water to make a soup that would go easily down his throat, but everytime I put it near him, he would move away from it, as if the smell repulsed him. I think it is because he knows the smell of the food and associates the smell with food that he will have a hard time eating. I don't know what to feed him that will go down his throat easily, give him nutrition, and won't repulse him.
It's easier to say he's my dog for the purposes of Yahoo answers, but he is actually my cousins' dog. My grandmother and I are watching him while they are away They will be back in two days. They just took him to the vet and got his diagnosis. I do not know what they have decided is going to be the best plan of action for him. Honestly, I am not worried about that right this second. I just want to get some food into his stomach. And I already tried blending his food with water. He refused to eat if because of the smell.
He has been to the vet, otherwize I wouldn't know he had cancer. I do not know what my cousins and their parents have decided about him or how long he has to live. Even if I did decide to euthanize him (which wouldn't be my decision because, as I mentioned above, he is my cousins' dog), I can't euthanize him right this second. Does anyone know any sort of food that I can feed him to hold him off until my cousins come home in two days?
He is not my dog. How can I do any of that to a dog that isn't mine? How can I get pain meds into a dog that won't eat? How can I get a dog, that isn't mine, to the vet at 2:14 in the morning? Can you please answer the question here: FOOD.

Don't make the dog wait two bloody days for relief. Get some pain relief for him from the vet and ask advice about feeding, or have the dog euthanised humanely.
ETA - There are any number of pain meds that do not have to be given with food. If the animal is in serious discomfort, the vet may even give pain relief intravenously. Emergency vets are available 24/7; the claim "It's late at night" is a poor excuse. The dog has been left in your care; it is for you to give that dog the care he needs. You don't need to be the owner of a dog to take it for vet care, though the vet will likely want to contact the owners regarding its treatment.
You cannot force feed the dog. If it won't take soft, easily managed food (cottage cheese, boiled chicken and rice mixed together is usually okay) or even a food-replacement drink because of pain, then you need to get the pain under control before you can expect it to eat.

My dog has this,, ( my sons dog Holden) I won't call him a dog he is Holden. Holden is a Chow, and we saw a lump five weeks ago, we took him to UC Davis Hospital ( 2 hour drive ) where they gave him his first shot, and then gave us pills to give him the week after, two days ago he stopped eating and so i cooked him frem ground beef, with little water, and then stew today, he ate , and has a little energy. For those of you who are wondering if you should take your dog to a vet,,, i don't know why you would not, stop your daily chores and get him to a vet, he is your child you bought him or her home, treat him the same way we should treat any life.

You body is fighting an infection. It is probably strep, but it could be a number of things. Drink plenty of fluids and if it persists or you have a fever, go see a doctor. I had head and neck cancer, Stage IV. The primary tumor was in my tonsil and it metastasized in my neck. I did not have body aches, fever, a sore throat, white spots, or any of the other very common symptoms of an infection. You know, the things that you have. I had a huge tumor in my tonsil and another one in my neck. That is what cancer is, a big tumor.

I had a cat with this. Sweetheart. He's suffering. The smell of food doesn't repulse him. He's sad because he is so hungry, but he can't eat. He's not pushing the treat away with his tongue. He's trying to eat it but can't . Please do the right thing for him now and put him to sleep to end his torture of pain and hunger. I'll say a prayer for you and for your wonderful dog.

Have you talked to your vet about this? It may be time to put your dog to sleep. Would you want to live that way?

Uhmm...have you been to a veterinarian? What are his chances of survival? Honestly I would have him humanely euthanized...that's a really sad existence.

Blend his food with water and just make a drink for him
