Why cant I see my profile photo? (EASY 10 POINTS!)?
When I go to (edit preferences > update photo or avatar) it shows that I have a photo selected but it still comes up with this green exclamation mark

You can not have a picture or avatar with a hidden profile.

Your Profile is Hidden to make your avatar visible go here http://pulse.yahoo.com/y/settings click Manage Privacy Settings.
Move the second tab so it says Your profile is currently visible.

2 ways to do it.
Go to My Activity, top center, click Edit my Preferences then click Update Picture or Avatar, all your images will be displayed. Click on a image or avatar a orange box will appear around it,
you can remove it or select it as your display avatar. You can also upload new images from here. After you select a display image click SUBMIT at the bottom of the next page.

On the next page click on the box where your ! avatar is. On the next page under your avatar click change picture.

If you want a custom avatar go to one of these sites and make a custom avatar, save it to your computer and upload it as a picture.

It could be that Yahoo has found that photo to be inappropriate (for some reason or another, things like violated a known trademark symbol, being lewd, etc) or it could just be a glitch.
If it were my page, I'd upload another photo (any type of image) just to see if that one shows up or not. At least this will let you know if it's working or not.
Finally, and you probably already know this (but I AM trying to help, remember), after you Select a photo you have to click Submit as the last thing you do on that page.
