How much dry food should i feed my Rottweiler?
Hi everyone,
I have so many questions regarding dry food cause i've been cooking for my dog for years but i'm switching to dry food now.
She's 8 years old, Rottweiler and she have a huge appetite, thats why i cant just fill her bowl cause she will eat all of it at once.
here is my questions:
1-whats the right portion of dry food and how many times (is 2-3 times ok?)
2-i got Brit, it contains chicken, wheat and rice, so is it enough or should i give her something else beside it?
3- can she live on dry food only, or i should add soup or water to it? i mean can it hurt her stomach with time?
i know i dont have a clue about dry food cause i'm new to this, so thnx in advance:)

whatever you do, DON'T follow the directions on the bag of food. If I fed my dogs as much as it says to on the bag, they would all be obese. Start with %75 the recommended portions, and if your dog starts to lose weight (give it some time) increase the portions A LITTLE. If your dog starts to gain weight, reduce the portions. I've had much success with a morning and evening feeding.
If your dog eats too fast, you can buy a "slow down" bowl:

A lot of people feed only dry to their dogs, me included. I'll buy a can of food for "special occasions" because I'm silly that way, but as long as you are buying high quality, premium food, it should be fine as the main source of sustenance.

Hills isn't a rubbish food it's a pretty good food and one I'd recommend. With a large breed dog like a rottweiler you have to make sure the diet you feed them is god quality to ensure good growth and less risk of hip problems. Hills food is produced from a standard recipe so you can always guarantee that every bag had the same ingredients and therefore nutritional value. Also for Hills chicken means chicken unlike the cheaper brands. Other good foods include Royal Canin, James Wellbeloved and Iams, but I'd definitely recommend the Hills.

i have to say she should have been raised on dry dog food because now it will be hard to break her of eating what you feed her before. in the begging i would feed her 3 times a day of the stuff you feed her before and add dry dog food a lil bit in a week or so add more of the dry dog food then in 2 weeks change form 3 times to 2 time and when you do add more to each meal so she still gets the same amount . if she eats to fast you might want to by a bowl that is like a cake pan with the center raised. this will help because the raised middle with block her from chowing everything down. is you have any more questions email me .
