1. 40 watt regular white light bulb? if you need more heat then no, you'll need a better heat lamp, depends on how much heat is needed and heat lamps are better for what they're needed for.
I'm not sure what bulb you mean, either incandescent or fluorescent?
2. and the incandescent bulbs do not provide proper UV, even though the manufacturers say they do, you will need a fluorescent reptile UV bulb .

Take it out and take it to the save with you. Or, take it out and degree it with a tape degree....if no tape degree obtainable, a dollar bill is 6 inches long. turn the hood over, and you will see 2 notches the place the two metallic prongs fit in on the two end of the sunshine. gently rotate the full bulb till the metallic prong exhibits on the notches and it is going to come out. If it hasn't been replaced for awhile, it could experience form of caught, merely be mushy yet turn it firmly. once you place a clean one in, do it an identical way.
