Fliegerhorst Langendiebach, Fliegerhorst Kaserne in Hanau Germany?
I was wondering if anyone knows if Fliegerhorst Kaserne is still being used. I was there in the late 80's...its kind of a home away from home. I can find it on google maps but it looks deserted. Nothing there except the buildings and roads and maybe someone at the gate...but beyond that nothing.
If your around there and know...please let me know. Just really curious if all that is just sitting there unused. Thanks.

The U.S. troops have left in 2007 based on relocation to Illesheim. The place is presently abondoned. It is planned to change it partly to a logistic center, another part is planned to become a theme park, and the Erlensee sports center will be moved from the town to the former barracks.

Was there 58-60 lived off post in Langendiebach some of the best years of my life, the German people were the finest that I have known.Most that I keep in touch with are gone now. Was a Armament mechanic worked on the 73rd Artillery tanks most of the time.

I arrived Nov. 11, 1963, just days before Kennedy was assassinated. We felt so remote then, only had a radio in the car to get news. We couldn't figure out what was happening in our country. The Germans were so sympathetic. They loved Kennedy after his "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech. I enjoyed my time in Langendiebach and Hanau, then Frankfurt. Too bad we got sent home early to serve in Viet Nam.

I was there from 85 to 87. I had no idea they had shut it down. I remember eating at Armando's right outside the front gate....good times.

I was there 73-75 HHB 3rd 59th ADA. worked BOC site for about year,then communication SGT. Like to go back and visit..

I was also there in the late 80's. I also had a roommate from Bangor, ME. I was SP4 Tucker and my roommate's name I believe was SP4 Northrup ( sorry if I misspelled your/the last name)
