Are white South Africans, who become legal citizens of the US considered African-Americans?

no... african american is a term specific to subsaharan black africans. white south africans, berbers (north africans) and Egyptians would not be considered african american and are all counted as white...even if they arent.

i agree, and there is nothing wrong or racist with that... i dont understand why people get upset at questions like this though, because there is something very odd. there is distinct difference in how things are applied to non-whites as to whites.

If an American strikes to India does that make him an American Indian? regardless of the actual undeniable truth that technically he should be an African American, the time period has been reserved for blacks in u . s . of america even if he grow to be born in Africa or elsewhere, in fact which potential he had decended from Africa. He should be dealt with as any accepted Euro/caucasian American, on the grounds that afterall that is the position his anscestors are from: if He grow to be Dutch he ought to likely be talked about as a Dutch-African American.
