Can you actually contact the contacts you have on Yahoo!Answers?

I have a 'friend' who I added as a contact and I really need to speak to him, but I don't know how. I don't actually have his email address, but it is urgent that I talk to him. Is there a way to use Answers to communicate?

"Contact" is a misnomer. Adding a contact on Answers does not mean that they can contact you or that you can contact them. It depends on each user's communications settings. Often users won't allow communications, this does not stop them from being your contact.

If they allow it and you have your own email or IM enabled, you can chat with somebody that way if they choose to respond.

To enable your email or IM go to My Activity>Edit My Preferences>Privacy & Communications. (http://answers.yahoo.com/my-activity/edit/settings... ) Check the boxes next to "Via Email" and/or "Via Yahoo! Messenger" and Submit.

Then in order for you to email or IM somebody they will have to have done the same thing. If you click on their avatar it will take you to their profile, and if their email or IM is enabled there will be an email and/or an IM link there. If there are no links you cannot contact that user privately.

Send an email maybe? Answers is not a social networking site. It is for sharing information.
