If I send a letter at a UK post office via royal mail do I have proof of sending?
I want to send a letter at a post office in the UK via 2nd class stamp royal mail but need proof of it being sent, do I need to go for recorded delivery to get this or do I get a receipt if I send it at the post office itself?

Yes just ask for proof of posting which is entirely free but has to be done at the post office. Although it proves you posted the letter it does not prove the other person received it - you need recorded delivery for that.

To get proof of postage, you need to go into the post office and ask them. It doesn't matter what class or delivery type, they just need to process it at the post office desk to issue one.

The safest thanks to attempt it truly is register the letter, that way you've data of posting and some thing powerful interior is insured, merely sticking a letter in the placed up field isn't any data in any respect, you may record it and also you should then get a receipt that that's been printed, yet no data of shipping.

You get a receipt anyway, but if it's important I'd go with recorded delivery, at least then you'll know where it is, I think it's about 80p more for recorded.

You can get a certificate of posting. Used to be free but not sure if it still is.
