Some questions about being a Cryptologic Linguist in the USAF?

I love to learn languages, particularly Arabic and Persian. I also know the military picks the language for you to learn based on what they need, but how much of a chance do I have getting the language of my choice (one of the ones listed above)?

I'm also curious as to what the deployment band is for the career. Do they deploy a lot or stay on base most of the time? What about chances of deployment for a 4 year contract?

Thank you for your time to read and answer!

Deployments can happen if you colunteer for them. But if you learn Arabic, you'll likely spen the majority of you're time a Ft. Meade in MD after you've completed you language training at DLI.

They base the language you learn off of AF needs as well as your DLAB score. If you want to learn Arabic, you want to get a higher score.

I knew a guy who was an Airborne Crypto Linguist...sounds like a pretty cool job, but he spent the majority of his enlistment in Offut AFB in Nebraska.
