Well, elementary school and middle school are definitely 2 different things. I'll tell you the things I wish I had known back in 6th grade. Lockers...Know how to use the combination and the lock. Get help from a teacher, look stuff up online and after practicing it for 1-2 weeks at school you'll know how to work it. You could get your own lock from a store and then put it on your locker when school starts. You can put in your own combo, I think, and practice all summer. Also, with lockers, please don't jam them. Neatly fit your books in, get magnetic shelves. On the floor of the locker is a line of color and make sure you push the books back so that they don't go beyond the line, or else it could get jammed.
Also, don't be afraid to ask people where a room is or ask for help with a locker, ask friendly looking students or a teacher. Also, if you need to unjam a locker but everyone else is in class, go to the main office (know where it is) and ask for a janitor to come help.
Pay attention to where all your classrooms are, pay attention to room numbers because they go in order for the most part. I can't believe how stupid I was back then, not noticing that haha.
Middle school is more demanding than elementary school. Pay attention and take notes, ask questions. Take advantage of study halls because there is so much homework and studying to do. So, get most or all of it done during the school day. Don't write more than you have to.
Relax, and take things as they come. A letter in the mail will come and say what your locker combo is, so maybe you could visit school beforehand and practice the combo.
Be outgoing and confident. Find some people to sit next to at lunch, and don't be shy. You have to be able to talk to people you don't know easily because there's group projects. Teachers also want you to speak up during class and raise your hand.
Know where the nurse's office is in case you get a papercut because teachers won't have band-aids. Bring your own tissues in case they don't have any.
Start thinking about what you want to do as a job one day because you will have to pick classes for high school this year.
