What was Shin a Lam's violation in the 2012 Olympic fencing semifinal?

I can't find anything in google mentioning her violation against the German causing the ref to reset the timer to a full second.

Can someone please please explain what was her violation.

Update:

Thanks for the first two answers, But for those who said that there was no violation, did you say that after you heard/read a final official report, or was it that you just hadn't heard other versions saying that the German ref reset the clock back to one second after Shin committed a violation.

Update 2:

*The Ref was an Austrian, it's her opponent that is German. Sorry

There was no violation. the issue was the official timer got stuck. The timer had 1 second left on it yet it did not end the match allowing the German to score a point and win the match.

The Korean team issued a challenge, which apparently you have to pay cash for, and it was denied thereby giving the German the win.

Pretty much the entire world feels the judges were wrong and that the Korean got robbed of a medal she earned. I would not be surprised if the IOC issues sanctions against the judges but that would occur after the Olympics have ended. Even if the IOC overturned it and awarded the medal to Shin, it wouldn't have the same affect. Part of winning is being on the podium and having your country's flag hoisted.

She got robbed and the judges knew it. This whole system of paying to file an appeal is absurd. If the judges reject the appeal they keep the money, if they accept it they return the money. There is no rule stipulating what the judges do with the money so they could even pocket it.

Judging by the appeal that was filed by Team Japan in Men's Gymnastics, it appears that appeals must be in US currency and look like they cost $200 as that is what it looked like when they showed the Japanese coach.

The appeals process is a joke, the judges in fencing are a joke. There needs to be oversight to keep the games fair. Its sad.

She didn't have any violations, the officials just screwed her over because they can't count to one second.
